On the 23rd April the beneficiaries of the project LIFE+ RI.CO.PR.I., along with Dr. Teresa Catelani, external monitor appointed by the European Commission, carried out the scouting in the SCI Dolomiti di Pietrapertosa. On this occasion it was held also the second meeting of the Executive Committee of the year 2014 at the headquarters of Parco Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane.
During the morning it were shown the six springs that have been restructured at the SCI of Basilicata by the initiative of the Park and the excellent results achieved by means of specific interventions of restoration and of environmental rehabilitation. Following the improvement of facilities for grazing and implementing plans for grazing, it was possible the recovery of the areas subject to erosion through the reconstitution of the turf with planting, construction of embankments along watersheds and defensive structures of the slops. The construction of the fences has allowed, in particular, to cope with the phenomenon of denudation of the turf in the vicinity of the springs, caused by the excessive use of the soil by animals.
In the afternoon, during the Executive Committee meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the beneficiaries, the project manager, Dr. Maria Vinci, the scientific coordinator, prof. Alessandro Travaglini, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, dr. Marco Delorenzo, director of the Parco Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane, Dr. Anna Maria Calabrese, communications coordinator of the Province of Potenza and Eng. Nicola Stolfi, responsible of the project for the CIA (Italian Farmers Confederation) of Basilicata have intervened to illustrate the progress of the project actions.
