Brief description of the activities of the coordinating beneficiary and of the experience in the field

The Italian Farmers Confederation (CIA) is one of the largest agricultural trade organizations in Europe. Members are more than 900,000 , of which approximately 300,000 farmers , and the remaining , agricultural workers subordinates, aids , technicians, retirees.

The confederation has a national structure and regional, provincial and local offices. The CIA is present in all regions and provinces. The zonal offices are 417 permanent and ensure a widespread presence of operators in the majority of Italian municipalities. The CIA has a representative office in Brussels.

The CIA has done in the areas of the Park of Gallipoli Cognato numerous seminars for farmers of livestock in the fields of:
 

• Methods of conservation of agricultural areas in natural and semi-natural habitats;

• Policies for the management of SPAs and SACs;

• Community and national rules of SPAs and SACs;

• Efficient systems of extensive breeding livestock and of protection of pastures;

• Rules and techniques for the preservation of the land from the point of view of the best agricultural and environmental condition.
